Greetings from the Minn-Dak Woodturners Association board! We hope that you’ve been staying healthy and active during the past few months. We’ve got a few updates for you.
Meetings beginning in September
The board has been discussing how we can move forward under the current situation. We understand that some of you might be comfortable with meeting in person, while others are not ready to make that step. Our plan for this Fall is to begin with online meetings and demos. We’ll be continuously monitoring and re-evaluating things as we go. With luck, we’ll be able to go back to meeting in person, but even when that happens, we plan to continue offering a way for members and guests to join us online as well.
We’re finalizing plans, so keep your eye out for an announcement regarding our kickoff meeting on Thursday, September 10.
Officer and board member nominations and election
According to our by-laws, we were supposed to have a slate of officers nominated in our April meeting, and then vote on that in our May meeting, with the new officers to take on their duties beginning next month. As with so many other things COVID-19 blew that plan up. So our current plan is to have the current officers and board members continue in their current roles until the next board election cycle.
Note that longtime club member Bob Lawrence, who has been serving as a board member for several years, has moved out of the F-M area and will no longer be serving. We want to thank Bob for everything he’s done over the years to help build the club. We also want to extend an invitation to the club membership to consider stepping up and joining the board. If you’re interested in becoming more involved, please let us know!
With the beginning of a new club year, it’s time to renew membership. The amount remains unchanged: $25 for one year. You can mail checks–payable to Minn-Dak Woodturners Association–to our club treasurer:
508 Liberty Lane
Horace, ND 58047
We’re looking at options to allow you to pay your membership dues online. Let us know if you would prefer that option, and we’ll put something in place.
Thanks for your continued support of the Minn-Dak Woodturners Association!
On behalf of the board of directors,
